“…And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.” – Romans 5:2
The assurance of the promises of God strengthens the faith of the righteous in waiting for its manifestation. Whenever God wants to assure you of His promises, He re-echoes them in your ears. The Psalmists says, “God has spoken once but twice I have heard it that power belongs to God.” (Ps 62:11). In addition, God may also decide to back-up His promise to you by making an oath which closes the door to doubt towards the fidelity and faithfulness of God to deliver on His promises.
So the divine assurance you receive from God keeps your hope alive. Hope is expectancy towards God’s fulfilling His promises. Abraham believed in God. He demonstrated hope when there was nothing to hope for. The circumstantial situation around Abraham does not provide a reference point for him to trust in God. However, his expectancy was not dashed. When your hope is alive, your heart will be strengthened and opened to receive the mandate of God for your life.
Displaying the spirit of gratitude during your season of expectancy shortens the gestation period for the manifestation of God’s promises to you. So while living in expectancy, Abraham staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief but gave glory to God. The time of expectancy is not the time to grumble for the perceived delay of God’s promises but should be a time for the expression of gratitude. Therefore I pray the spirit of gratitude fill your heart as you hope for the manifestation of God’s promises for your life in Jesus name.
