“Woe to them! For they have run riotously in the way of Cain, and have abandoned themselves for the sake of gain following the error of Balaam…” Jude 11
Anyone who wants to run the Christian race must not compromise the virtues and attributes of godly sportsmanship. The devil is much more interested in your withdrawal from the race of life than to see you draw closer to God.
Balaam found himself in the valley of decision. His options were either to obey God and jettison the juicy offers of materialism or receive the acidic kickback that will drain his prophetic calling and bring him into enmity with God. Ultimately, Balaam was overtaken by covetousness. Instead of maintaining his integrity, he exchanged it for destructive offers of material possessions.
If your eyes of understanding are not enlightened, your eyes and heart desires may endanger your life. Until God opened the eyes of Balaam, he never knew that his life was at risk, because he was on the move to execute a mandate which God had not sent him. Nevertheless, he went on and damned the consequence of covetousness and became covered with generational shame.
What is your pursuit in life? Will it endanger your life? Do you know the consequence of your actions? Is God pleased with your steps? Let your ways and motives please the Lord and you will experience unending pleasure of prosperity, peace and all round satisfaction. May you never endanger your tomorrow by the actions you take today in Jesus name.
