JOY OF SALVATION

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. – Ps.51:12

Nothing worthy of divine acceptance can be performed if a believer lacks the joy of salvation. The Bible says, “Serve the Lord with gladness” (Ps. 100:2). So, running out of joy is akin to running out of the oil in your spiritual lamp. Under such circumstance, your spiritual potency and commitment experiences a downturn. When this occurs, your relationship with God will be impaired, allowing room for lukewarmness.

The joy of salvation is a divine deposit in the heart of a believer which enables him to pursue and seek the kingdom of God wholeheartedly. It is the divine connecting factor that establishes and strengthens your fellowship with God. Many Christians, that allowed themselves to be put off the track towards the heavenly goal, are losing their spiritual appetite for the things of God. This is attributable to the constant draining of the joy of their salvation through sin, worldly influence, bankruptcy of the word of God and lack of revelation and refreshing from the Holy Spirit.

The Psalmist realized the state of his spiritual impoverishment when he sinned against the Lord. He knew in his heart of hearts that his iniquity has sabotaged his fellowship with God. So he cried out to the Lord, “Restore unto me the joy of Your salvation…” (Ps. 51:12). By the same token, I pray the Lord deliver and liberate you from every ungodly affection, influence, counsel and association that will drain and shortchange you of the joy of your salvation, so you don’t become a cast away at the end of the age in Jesus name.
