...I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary. -  I Cor. 9:26
It is unfulfilling to channel off your effort chasing shadows while you could have been occupied with chasing the substance. Many people set the cart before the horse and get caught up in the chase after mundane things that contribute little or add up to nothing to their lives. When you put the goals that will impact immensely on your success on the back burner, you may have reasons to kick yourself for the misplacement of your priorities.
In your pursuit to become successful, you must not be preoccupied with aspirations that will ruin your hope of a bright tomorrow. For some people, it is inordinate desire for material possessions. They frequently chop and change their personal effects at the expense of worthwhile investment that will impact well on their future. For others, they seek to gratify the ungodly desires of the flesh and thereby stain their reputation.
Do you stand a better chance of deriving maximum return from what you do? Would it impact well on your future? In retrospect, would you want to retrace your step and develop appetite for what counts most in your life? While it could be said of Elisha that he kept his eye on the ball to be endowed with the double portion of Elijah’s anointing, Gehazi, the servant of Elisha, was rather overwhelmed with the pursuit of material possessions. In the end, he shot himself in the foot and wound up as a leprous servant.  Hence, may your heart begin to pant for the achievement of goals that will get you in the spotlight in Jesus name.
