She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins – Matt. 1:21
Without the divine revelation of purpose, a man will find himself running around in circles. He will be chasing shadows without aiming rightly to hit the mark. The account of the prodigal son was a typical illustration of a son who failed to understand God’s purpose for his life before he launched out in wasteful spending. His adventure into a far country yielded no rewarding returns. Had he known or understood God’s purpose for his life, he would have probably wound up as an enviable merchant with global impact.
The birth of Jesus was announced by an angel who unveiled the purpose of His birth to His earthly parents. Jesus was proclaimed as the Messiah whom the Jews had longed to see. The purpose of Jesus’ birth was confirmed by John the Baptist, who unveiled Jesus’ identity as the One who had being in existence right from the beginning. The revelation and knowledge of the purpose of Jesus set Him on the right track. Without the revelation of purpose, a nation or a people would be running on a path that is a far cry from the ultimate plan of God.
The revelation of the purpose of God for John the Baptist helped him to draw the line between his ministry and the ministry of Jesus. Whenever he was asked whether he was the Messiah, he spelt it out that he was destined to prepare the way of the Lord and to preach the message of repentant. Without assuming the identity and personality of Jesus, John made it clear that Someone mightier than him is the Messiah they should long to see. Therefore, I pray God unveil His purpose for your life so you don’t hit the brick wall but rather hit the mark and attain to the height of glory destined for you in Jesus name.
