EQUIPPING TO AVERT A QUIT

For I received from the Lord Himself that which I passed on to you… - I Cor. 11:23

Great leaders channel their effort towards capacity building as part of the remarkable legacies that makes their leadership spotlight to go down in history. When leaders do more than equipping themselves to providing others with enabling atmosphere for growth, they become eternal value-adding and change agents. By so doing, they help their team or followers not to lose sight of the purpose of their calling or vocation. They also assist their team to trade on the knowledge that is passed on to them and get them spurred on to pass same down to upcoming generations.

The truth must be told that good followers who are being equipped for the challenges that are ahead shouldn’t lose sight of the purpose of their calling. They are expected to live and learn and also not to quit the journey towards a life of excellence and impact. They must understand that they are accountable for whatever vital knowledge they fail to pass on to the next generation of leaders on the line. However, whenever a leader stops learning, his ability to occupy his leadership spotlight will be impaired. At such stage of the game, he is nothing short of a quitter who refuses to persevere with his mission for life.

Apostle Peter lost sight of his enormous responsibility as a prime leader among the Disciples of Christ. After spending quality time, sitting at the feet of Jesus, he opted to go back to fishing probably because the Master had been taken up into heaven and wasn't under His close supervision. Because it pleased the Master to help Peter to keep his eye on the ball, Jesus reappeared and quizzed him three times in a row on whether he genuinely love Him (John 21). The Master’s mandate for Peter was to feed His sheep and not to allow the virtue He had invested in him to go to waste. I pray the Lord bestow upon you the unmitigated grace to equip and fortify the team under your oversight with relentless hunger to perverse towards the actualization of their potential in Jesus name.
