“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5
You were created by and for God and not the other way round. When God decided to create man, there were no third parties in the decision making other than the Trinity. Hence, before your conception, God’s plan for your life was finalised upfront. Your input wasn't required. And that accounts for why you cannot question God or press charges against Him for creating you the way you are. Rather, you owe Him the debt of gratitude for the reason that you were not created a tree which men chop down for firewood. You have been wonderfully and fearfully made for a purpose that supersedes your human intellect. Because God is the sole determinant of your purpose, you cannot fulfill your purpose in isolation of His direction and revelation, to help you find your bearings.
Many people engage the tool of philosophy, rationalisation and speculation as means of ascertaining their mission in life. These channels will only leave you with a discovery that is out of tune with what God had preordained before the existence of the world. Your destiny is not decided by hazarding a guess of what you should be. God didn't have to play dice to decide it. Neither did He have to cast lot to determine your divine slot in the scheme of things. With the intent to make you His masterpiece, God sat back, thought of you and chose to make you for His pleasure, for which you must live a life that measures up to fulfill it.
Prophet Jeremiah didn't have to choose the family he was born into. Neither did he make a choice about the ministry gift he desired. The Lord God told him, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah couldn't afford to be somebody apart from what God had ordained him to become. If he had pursued a ministerial career apart from the prophetic office he was ordained into, he would have been a misfit, a victim of rebellion and a disappointment to his generation. Where are you today? Is your pursuit in tune with God’s mandate for your life? It’s never too late to retrace your steps. May the Lord God help you to discover and pursue His ultimate mandate for your life and cause you to reap the harvest of fulfillment in Jesus name.
