Jesus said to them, My food (nourishment) is to do the will (pleasure) of Him Who sent Me and to accomplish and completely finish His work. -  John 4:34
The renowned leadership expert,  John Maxwell, in his book,  "The Leadership Gold", wrote partly on following ones passion. It is not inappropriate to assert that what you have passion for has the capability of stationing you at the top of your field. It can make you rank as a frontliner and not as someone who takes a backseat while others are in the spotlight. When you have passion or penchant for something, you will never consider it mission impossible to get through and succeed against all odds. So when you take pleasure in what you do, nothing can pull the plug on your move to achieve your goals in spades.
When you glory in the pursuit your goals, it makes you to (1) STRETCH yourself and give yourself up to the actualization of your potential. When this happens, you would be able to get and stay ahead of others, who are not purpose and goal driven (2) STAY FOCUSED and keep your eye on the ball. Hence, you become more sensitive to what gobbles your time. On top of this,  you become much more conscious of your environment while your give time wasters the go-by, who may get between you and the accomplishment of your goals.
For you to get the drop on others and live up to your goals, glorying in the pursuit of your goals also helps you to be (3) STRIDENT. You can only get into your stride when you give evidence of displaying the horsepower to accomplish your goals in spades. Regardless of the enormity of a task, once you take pleasure in what you do,  you would be able to get with it until you reach the finishing line. Put in another way, you won't allow anything to put you off your stride until you reach the end of the road with evidence of accomplishment. Hence,  I pray God unveil your eyes of understanding to discover the virtues that gives you pleasure,  which pay off in actualizing your potential in Jesus name.
