To grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified. – Isaiah 61:3
It takes a man who is endowed with the joy of the Lord to rejoice in the days of adversity. This speaks to the supernatural attribute of joy in giving you the presence of mind to stand tall in the face of storms. However, a man who is overwhelmed with a sorrowful spirit while enduring trying times would be emotionally handicapped and void of the vim and vigor to rejoice. But, when you are filled with the spirit of joy, you will be able to weather the storm and would also be are to harden yourself up to trying times.
The oil of joy upon a believer makes him to (1) REJOICE even in the times of affliction. The oil of joy helps you to swing into joy and glow with smiles flowing from your heart and not just a facial radiation. It propels all your nerves and fortifies them with strength to sing when the devil attempts to make your head to spin in the times of adversity. (2) REST on the word of the Lord in absolute expectancy. When the joy of the Lord is upon you, it keeps you in high hope of better things to come. The oil of the Lord helps you to keep your faith alive and stand you in a good stead to lay claim to the promises of God.
Without the oil of joy, your spirit man would be unable to resist the arsenals of the devil, which is devised to drain your soul. Hence, the oil of joy gives you the (3) power to RESIST any attempt of the devil to send leanness into your soul. It equips you with a divine resistant mechanism to shut up the lips of the devil. By the working of the oil of joy upon your life, you will be able to squash every suggestion and counsel that will make you lose your drive to serve the Lord with gladness. As you go today, may the Lord endow you with the oil of gladness to keep you in high heaven and prepare your heart for God’s manifold blessings in Jesus name.
