David consulted the captains of thousands and hundreds, even with every leader. -  I Chronicles 13:1
It bears mentioning that there is safety in the multitude of counsellors and by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counselors there is victory and safety. Wise leaders do not despise consultation and the gray matter of their  deep thinkers. They don't shoot down valuable ideas and do not despise people who intend to weigh in with innovative solutions to problems. A wise leader displays the willingness to consult upwards and downwards on need assessment basis. A wise leader understands that consulting with his deep thinkers does not subordinate him but affords him with the platform to swap notes on key discussions for innovative solutions.
When leaders consult, they are availed of OPTIONS to explore all avenues. Consultation helps a leader to identify innovative course of action to address a given problem. When a leader surrounds himself with deep thinkers and great minds that could think like himself, he will not grope in the dark for solution to problem. In addition, a leader who consults has the UPPER HAND in resolving complex problems over a leader who chooses not to pick the brains of his team. This speaks to the fact that a leader who encourages brainstorming session will draw insight by using the gray matter of his deep thinkers and explore the right intelligence to resolve problems.
The offshoot of a leader's willingness to consult leads to actualization of UNCOMMON RESULT. David chose not to be an authoritative leader. He held a crucial meeting with the movers and shakers of his kingdom. He brainstormed with them and they were able to reach a decision that triggered great joy for the kingdom. This reveals that the performance of a leader moves from ordinary to extraordinary when he engages and brainstorms with the right people. However, the greatest Consultant is the person of the Holy Spirit whose advice exceeds all human intellectual reasoning. As you begin to consult wisely, may you reap the harvest of uncommon results in Jesus name.
