A leader who inspires fear
in his team is either a bundle of nerves who exhibits incompetence or a
terrorist who creates a hostile working atmosphere that is void of innovation
and creativity. When leaders fails to instill confidence in others, they make
their team to grow half-hearted and become emotionally boxed up. It could also
make a leader to attract the squeaky wheels that often bitch about every
challenging situation. But the leader who inspires confidence in others builds
a high performance team that thinks out of the box to accomplish established
goals.
For leaders to inspire
confidence in their team, they need to exhibit the RIGHT ATTITUDE. Caleb had a
winning attitude that sets him apart. While the other ten spies sent out by
Moses to spy the land of the Anakims turned in a bad report, Caleb alongside
Joshua came back with a report that could instill confidence in the heart of
the Israelites. His report has the capacity to galvanize the heart of the
Israelites to step up to the plate and fight the good fight of faith. The right
attitude which Caleb brought to the table inspired him to say that the Armies
of Israel are well able to possess the land of the Anakims.
It is also a fundamental
prerequisite for leaders to have the RIGHT PERSPECTIVE before they can inspire
confidence in others. Caleb saw the Anakims as bread. The other half-hearted
spies saw the Anakims as giants while saw the Israelites as grasshoppers. Finally,
without deploying the RIGHT APPROACH to solving problems, followers may express
misgivings about the course of action a leader may decide to take. Caleb drew
the attention of the Israelites to the enabling grace of God to win the battle
against the Anakims. Caleb’s position was that if God delights in His people,
they will not be disappointed on the battlefield. Hence, he stirred the faith
of the Israelite’s army to focus on God and not on their strength. I pray the
Lord God endow you with capacity, inspiration and wisdom to inspire confidence
in others, thereby propelling them to swing into action for maximum impact in
Jesus name
