For he says to
Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion
on whom I have compassion." – Roman 9:15
No
man can achieve a supernatural feat or enjoy divine intervention without the
operation of God’s mercy. This is understandable because man is fashioned to be
dependent on God. So no one can assume a position where he does not need to cry
for God’s mercy. The mercy of God is a divine attribute of God that makes Him
to interrupt the danger and harm that accompany divine judgment. The mercy of
God is the divine relief you need when your human efforts culminates in
disappointments. It is also the divine option to position your life for a
turnaround. When God says that, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy
and have compassion on whom I will have compassion”, He simply meant that His
mercy is subject to His discretion.
However,
you can connect with God’s mercy and stir Him to swing into action on your
behalf if you place a high premium on His intervention. Those who take God out
of the equation do have reasons to grapple with disappointment and question the
integrity of God. But those who see God has the supreme factor in receiving
their miracles and breakthroughs move God to demonstrate His glory in their
situation. Blind Bartimaeus did allow the opportunity for his healing to slip
through his finger. When he heard that Jesus was passing by, he had a strong
assurance that God’s mercy would work out the recovery of his sight.
Aside
from placing a high premium on God’s intervention, to provoke Him to act with
mercy, it is also impactful if you shower God with encomium of His mercies. The
Psalmist has good grasp of what it means to shower God with His praise of
mercies when he sang, “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever…” When
you sing of the mercies of God, your life cannot sink into despair. The song of
God’s mercies is a divine trigger to move God into speedy action for your
change. Hence, don’t spend your time lamenting and questioning God’s fidelity. Rather
expend such time to shower God with the encomium of His mercies and you will see
God making you the candidate of His mercy. May the mercies of God never elude
you as you journey through life in Jesus name.
