For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. - John 3:16
Though Adam and Eve sinned against God, yet they were not abandoned. It isn't in God's plan to abandon them but rather to help them to begin on a clean slate. He gave them another chance though they lost the intimacy they shared with God. However, God, in His infinite mercy, has made overwhelming provision to rebuild the lost intimacy between Him and man. In lieu of keeping His people are arm's length, He has chosen to draw them unto Himself with His everlasting arms.
So don't feel abandoned. You might have gone astray. God has not given up on you for lost. He knows where you are and desires to commune with you. If you will not shut Him out of your life, He will be gracious to make you a vessel unto honour. Living a life of sin is playing your life into the hands of the devil whose ultimate mission is not to keep you high and dry but to drain your life of joy, peace and make you a certified candidate for eternal damnation.
Jesus' mission is to win the world to Himself. Within the window of opportunity He had, He threw Himself into the redemption of souls. So it is understandable that Christians aren't mandated to abandon the world but to win the world. Has your heart been won unto Jesus? If not, know that forewarned is forearmed. May you not shortchange yourself of eternal life as you begin to live up to God's expectations for your life in Jesus name.
