“I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again
empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and
the Almighty has afflicted me?” – Ruth 1:21
It will be erroneous to measure your tomorrow by the current circumstances
that make mockery of your Kingdom identity. Some Christians have no better way
of explaining the challenges in their lives than to ascribe them to the
wickedness and weakness of God. They are oblivious of the covenant that they
have in Christ, so they fail to recognize that God has the power to consign
their troubles to oblivion and extinction.
The fact that you appear to be empty today doesn’t imply
that God has exhausted His ability to sustain your continuous nourishment. The
passage from emptiness to plenty may be full of darkness, discouragement and
discomfort but is never void of the presence of God. So whenever it appears
that you are drained of the dividends of your sonship in Christ, know that God
has opened a new well from which you can draw up new joy.
Naomi thought she had lost all that she had: both family
and material possessions. If her eyes of understanding were enlightened to see
that Ruth, her daughter-in-law, was sent to her to uproot the tree of
bitterness in her life, she wouldn’t have attributed her destitute state to the
wickedness of God. When God opened her eyes and unveiled His unending generosity
towards her, she realized that her emptiness was a passage in her life that faded
away by the outpour of the overflowing blessings of God upon her life.
The emptiness you may be going through could be a test of
your commitment to God in your night season before your brightness and season of
plenty spring forth. I pray God visit every trace of emptiness in your life
with overflowing streams of joy and pleasant surprises in Jesus name. Amen
