“Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream…” – Isaiah 66:12
For you not to be overwhelmed by the storms of this world, you need the peace of God. Peace doesn’t actually signify the absence of war but a having a stable and relaxed mind even when wars are raging. Jesus did not promise the wipe out of troubles and persecution in the world but He assured His disciples that, in Him they will have peace and the abundance of it (John 16:33).
The Psalmist said that when enemies arise against him, he will be confident in the Lord because he knew that the Lord is his Light and Salvation (Ps. 27:1-3). That means with Jesus in your life, you can lie down and sleep without fear of what the enemies may want to do to you. A man who is assured of God’s presence is not mindful of the confrontation from the pit of hell because he understands that greater is He that is in him than he that is in the world.
Elisha wasn’t mindful of the Syrian armies that came against him and his minister. While his minister was engulfed with fear, Elisha knew God was heavily present with him. There were innumerable companies of angels who were heavily present to defend him from the attack of his adversaries (II Kings 6:15-17).
Peace is not a commodity that is displayed for sale in the commodity or stock market but a divine gift that was purchased for us by Christ with His blood from the divine supermarket of the Most High. Because the blood of Jesus is a Fountain of Life, you can overflow with the peace of God. Before you can have peace like a river, you must sever and separate yourself from the affairs of this world and partner with God. If God is at peace with you, you will become the vessel into which He pours out Himself. May you not be overwhelmed by the storms of this world but rather overflow with the peace of God in Jesus name.
