THE CONSEQUENCE OF PRIDE

“God resist the proud. But gives grace to the humble” – James 4:6

Pride is a destructive attitude that opens the door of enmity between God and man. When a man becomes proud, his understanding of the supremacy of the Most High will be darkened to a fault. When the spirit of pride overwhelms a man, he substitutes his reverence for God with self-glorification and derecognizes the grace of God in all his accomplishments.

If you want to become and remain the bride of the Most of High, you must desist from every attitude that could awake the spirit of pride in you. Disregarding the nobility of baptizing Jesus Christ, John the Baptist rather chose to decrease so that Christ may increase. He was able to dislodge the feeling of temporal superiority when he baptized Jesus, knowing that he was mandated to prepare the way of the Lord. When you begin to perceive people around you as nobody, because of your seemingly high status, you will be rendered helpless when adversity beyond the altitude of your pride overshadows you.

It is more gruesome and dreadful to exalt yourself above the throne of the Most High. The devil desired to ascend his throne above the stars (angels) of God and to be like the Most High. The consequence of his imagination caused him a swift and permanent displacement from his enviable space before the throne of God.

When a man makes himself immeasurable before God, he will soon be deflated to an object of reproach in the sight of multitude. Watch out and don’t be overwhelmed by the spirit of pride when you begin to attain enviable height in your path to fulfilling your God-defined destiny. May your heart be overwhelmed with the spirit of humility in all your pursuit in life, to enjoy overflowing grace for greater accomplishment in Jesus name.
