“For he waited for the city which has foundations, whose
builder and maker is God” – Hebrews 11:10
Any Christian who doesn’t treasure his or her divine
citizenship is like a sheep that disregards the generous grace of the Ultimate
Shepherd; Jesus Christ, the Bishop of our Soul. If you are in partnership with
God, you are counted a divine partaker and inheritor of the heavenly habitation
prepared by God for His glorious people. So, you must be mindful of your divine
citizenship, which is in heaven above. Know that in the sight of God, you are
counted and considered as a first-class citizen of heaven.
We see Abraham’s resolution to tenaciously wait for the
Ultimate City, the heavenly habitation of the Most High. He knew that there is
a better City which is not accessible by burglars, blasphemers and by bloody
and sinful men. It is, however, disheartening that some folks live their lives
under the impression that the planet earth will remain till kingdom come. Accordingly,
they labour under the build-up of false hopes that the earth will offer them a
place of uninterrupted pleasure and comfort.
If you are not eager and mindful of the need to live a
righteous and profitable life to God, you would be erased and delisted from the
laundry list of saints that will be raptured at the coming of the Saviour. If
you are genuinely awaiting the return of the Saviour, you must be willing to
lay aside all the weights of sin that could beset you and that could blot out your
name from the Book of Life.
It is the chief of all miseries to go through life and get
denied from accessing and dwelling in the Ultimate City, where sounds of
unending joy will spring forth forever and ever. May you not find reasons to
draw back into the corruptible pleasure of sin, as you progress in your pilgrimage,
in pursuit of the Ultimate Abode of the Most High in Jesus name.
