GAINING FAVOUR

Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him (Boaz), Why have I found favour in your eyes that you should notice me, when I am a foreigner? Ruth 2:10

It amounts to a life of struggle if you go through life without a jot of favour. Favour relieves a man from hard labour and keeps him from fruitless effort. Favour makes your work and pursuit to come to fruition. It makes your life investment to bring forth the desired yield. It turns your prayers to fulfilled petitions.

Favour opens the door of opportunities but your preparation for opportunities may give you the rear chance of being favoured. So favour does not exempt you from planning, preparing and pursuing success. It rather gives you the enviable access and opportunities to give a good account of yourself while others are left to jostle for space to show case their potential.

David did not become a man after God’s heart by accident. As a shepherd boy, he demonstrated willingness to learn the ways of the Lord, take and act on wise instruction and spend quality time with God. Ruth gained favour in Bethlehem of Judah because she chose to learn the ways of God while she disconnected herself from the wrong teachings of her homeland in Moab. She acted on the instruction of her mother-in-law to secure a glorious future and membership of a glorious family.

In addition, Ruth chose not to drag her feet but diligently sought to take up the role of a wise homemaker even when her husband was no more. Her display of diligence while gleaning on the site of Boaz, an agro mogul, brought her into favour. Because Ruth treasured her dignity and chastity, she became the choice woman that cut the eyes of Boaz.

Until you are willing to spread your wings to opportunities, favour will not blow in your direction. May the Lord grant you favour in your prayers, pursuits, plans and in all your preparations towards living a victorious, glorious and successful life in Jesus name.
