Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they – Heb. 1:4
The Bible gives precedence to a good name above having riches (Prov. 22:1). A wealthy man without a good reputation is a reproach to his nation. Many prefer to amass wealth at the expense of national interest. They choose to feather their own nest without being mindful of the hapless and destitute in the land. Therefore, a man who sacrifices a good reputation on the altar of corruption, slothfulness and ungodliness tramples his identity and dignity in the mud.
But when we consider the account of Jesus, He decided to make Himself of no reputation. He took the form of a servant to be offered as a Sacrificial Lamb for the sins of the whole wide world. The Bible says, He humbled Himself unto death; even the death of the Cross. The Theologians made us to understand that He went seven steps downwards and that in rewarding His unequivocal faithfulness, He was lifted up seven steps upwards. Chiefly, He was given a name above every other name. Such that at the mention of His name, every knee bows and every tongue confess to the glory of God.
The Early Apostles were also known for excellence because they rubbed shoulders with an excellent Master. The name of Apostle Paul was highly esteemed and revered even by demons. When you nurture the seed of greatness inside of you to germinate to full maturity and manifestation of the glory of God, especially through your good deeds and works, then your name will begin to ring a bell all over the world, as you continue to make global impact. May your identity not be synonymous with sorrow, misfit or dishonor but rather be attributable to honour, excellence and as a global world changer in Jesus name
