THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE CROSS

For the story and message of the Cross is sheer absurdity and folly to those who are perishing…but to us who are being saved it is the manifestation of the power of God – I Cor. 1:19

Without the death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary, we would have been humiliated, embarrassed and terrified all day long by the spirit of death. Beyond this, our lives would have been lowered six feet under to pay for the wages of our sins, which is death. However, because Jesus died for us all, His death purchased for us the manifold blessings of God without which our lives would have been miserable.

I would share what I captioned as the seven wonders of the Cross, which are the overwhelming blessings and divine benefits that accompany the death of Christ. So when Jesus died on the Cross and conquered the grave, God’s providence made the following benefits available:

1. The WAGES of our sins was settled. This implies that Christ paid the penalty of death so we could no longer be subject to the law of sin and death.

2. The RAGE of God was appeased. Because Christ chose to become sin for us, God’s displeasure for our sins was chilled off as we now put on the righteousness that is in Christ Jesus

3. The CAGE of captivity wherein we were held hostage by the devil through the instrument of fear was destroyed. This speaks to our liberty from the hold of the devil and from the spirit of fear, so we would cry Abba Father

4. A new PAGE of a new life in Christ was opened to us. This signifies the establishment of the new covenant built on better promises, which were not built into the old testament

5. We took on the IMAGE of Christ. The Cross teaches us to be like Christ in His sufferings and prepares our mind to be partakers of His sufferings so we could also reign with Him on high

6. There was a divine EXCHANGE of our grief, pains and affliction at the Cross. This signifies that Christ took upon Himself all our sorrows and grief in exchange for our peace, joy and rest from all affliction

7. The Cross endorses us with the mandate to become God’s ambassadors with a MESSAGE that Jesus died and that He is alive while we also teach and warn every man to depart from iniquity

May the wonders of the Cross, upon which Jesus died, deliver to you God’s manifold blessings of peace, joy, rest, new beginning and make you a channel of blessings (an ambassador of Christ) even to the world at large in Jesus name.
