HAVING ETERNITY IN SIGHTS

But don't rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven."  - Luke 10:20

The highest goal of a Christian is to earn a citizenship in heaven. It's a goal worth striving for. Hence, it is essential that you keep to the straight and narrow in your bid to finish well. Jesus unveiled a mind-blowing truth in the scripture, which many have not given adequate thought to. When He said, '...strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it' (Matt 7:14), many a people have not turned this revelation over in their minds, seeing that are preoccupied with the pursuit of fame, materialism, fleshy gratification, lustful passion and fashion.

Until you have eternity in sights - as a goal to be pursued earnestly, all your life ambitions and pursuits are nothing short of absolute vanities. When the early Disciples went out on an outreach with evidence of miracles and great exploits, they were thrilled with great joy. But Jesus had to put their ultimate goal in perspective and set them straight when He made them to understand that the underlying reason for their joy should be because their names are written in the book of life and not on account of the miracles they had performed. The Master knew that it will be a labour loss if a Christian is reputed for performing miracles but wind up being disqualified when the roll is called.

Anyone who claims to have eternity in sights will certainly prioritise the pursuit of God's kingdom and its righteousness. When you make heaven your ultimate goal, you need to keep working out your salvation with fear and trembling. You need to pursue righteousness at all costs. If the kingdom of heaven is secondary to your pursuit, you would be despising the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross. Why not fix your eyes unto Jesus and cleave to Him all the way. As you make heaven your prime pursuit, may you never be disqualified from being counted as a citizen of heaven in Jesus name.
