WHEN LEADERS COMMUNICATE

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.  These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! – Acts 2:14-15

God does not leave His people in the dark even when it is dark. The Bible says He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets; while the prophets of the Lord, who are His spokesmen unveil His thoughts for comfort, edification and exaltation. Hence, the revelation of the mind of God builds the hope of many and keeps them in high state of expectancy. On the other hand, when leaders are poised to speak to challenges or to a people, they earn a reputation for acting as agents of light in the midst of darkness and confusion. Hence, the willingness of a leader to address situations, challenges and confrontations speaks volumes in proffering the requisite solution.

When a tried and trusted leader communicates, he stands a good stead to CLEAR THE AIR. When the Pharisees came to John the Baptist to enquire whether he was the Messiah, he cleared the air and made them to understand his mission. When Nehemiah and his company gave sense to the word of the Lord, the people of the Lord got a sound grasp of the mandate of the Lord for their lives. They realized their lives were a far cry from the requirements of the Law. Hence, they began to turn over a new leaf.  

In addition, when leaders communicates, they help to CLARIFY EXPECTATIONS. In his book, “How Successful People Think”, John Maxwell wrote, “Disappointment is the difference between expectation and reality”. When expectations are not clarified, people are likely to work at variance with plan and purpose. But a leader who clarifies expectation helps his team to get with the program and pursue the right course of action. On top of this, a leader who communicates and connects effectively, COMMANDS A harvest of change. When Peter rose up to address the crowd on the Day of Pentecost, aside from clearing the air and clarifying God’s expectation for the people, the offshoot of his speech led to the salvation and conversion of multitude into the household of faith. Hence, as you begin to communicate passionately and effectively, may you begin to rake in harvest of great accomplishments and exploits for the Lord in Jesus name.
