A leader who is not confident enough to place a high
premium on his team should not expect anything out of the ordinary. That is why
it is essential for leaders to put in good time to train their team and not to
drain them beyond measure. Before a team begins to get to its breaking point,
wise leaders explore all avenues to bring them back to speed. However, leaders
who undermine their team are usually unwilling to give of themselves. To top it
off, they expect their team to work out miracles but end up discovering that
the unexpected happens.
In John 15, when the Lord
Jesus held a closed door meeting with His Disciples, He informed them of the
change in their profile. According to the Master, they were no more to be
called servants but friends. He knew that they weren’t just working for Him but
were actually working with Him. So He chose to keep them in the lope of what
the Father had revealed to Him. This was partly to help them speak the same
language as He did and bring them to speed in the thing that pertains to the
Kingdom. This reveals that when leaders see people as partners in progress,
they grease the skids for the success of their team and put nothing on their
way to accomplish great result.
Mordecai knew that Esther
was up to the task to use her inside track to avert the danger that was looming
large against the Jews. So he went ahead and gave her a heads up to prepare
lest she waste away even in the palace, if she decides not to rise to the
challenge. Mordecai didn’t undermine Esther’s ability to influence weighty
matters in the palace even when he knew it was a tall order for her to step up
to the plate. According to John Maxwell, when you believe in people, they find
reasons to believe in themselves. In response to Mordecai’s charge, Esther rose
to the challenge, to invalidate the death warrant that was issued against the
Jews. In the end, the efforts of Esther didn’t go down the drain because she
hoped against hope. Hence, I pray that as you inspire confidence in others to achieve
the extraordinary, may you become an icon of global impact to be reckoned with
and a source of hope to those who are in doubt of their future, in Jesus name
