Humility
was the fundamental factor that propelled the elevation of Jesus, to be
ascribed with a Name that is above every other names. The Bible says that Jesus
humbled Himself to the point of death. He chose to be capitalized so He could
become the Captain of our salvation. Had Jesus chosen to exercise His divine
power to pass immediate judgment on those who crucified Him, He would have
allowed His divinity and supremacy over the works of His hands to stand in the
way of His upfront mission to bring salvation to the world. The humility of
Jesus is indeed a tough act to follow, in that the Creator refused to sass back
to those who persecuted Him while suffering the pains of crucifixion on the
Cross.
If
Christ could lay down His life in outright humility and made Himself of no
reputation, taking the form of a servant; leaders who desire to aspire to
greatness must embrace servant leadership. When we consider the account of
Herod Agrippa I, the grandson of Herod the Great, we could see a high-profile
personality who allowed his enviable status to get to his head. He allowed the
chanters of his praise to get him into trouble with divinity. It could have
been a lighter punishment if Herod was cut down to size for usurping God’s
glory to himself. Because the Lord God wanted all men to know that His
supremacy is unparalleled and that His glory cannot be split, Herod was crushed
down to zero. Worms were divinely ordered to feast on him. Of course, he became
a sorry sight and came down heavily in the world.
Therefore,
it goes without saying that humility is the gateway to a life of honour and
exaltation to higher ground. Leaders who embrace humility don’t crumble because
it delights the heart of God to catapult them to greater height. Hence, a
leader who is not high-minded and overbearing is a candidate for promotion when
God is seeking those to elevate to a place of global honour. I pray you as
prepare your heart to walk with God in humility and serve humanity with
meekness, may your horn be exalted on high and your head be anointed with grace
for greater height in Jesus name.
