but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; - 1 Pet. 1:15
Anyone who desires to be a representative of Christ should not come across as living a double standard life. You are either on the Lord's side or in the camp of workers of iniquity, whose pursuit is solely to gratify the flesh. Those who desire to follow after Christ need to understand that the journey with God is not akin to mere drinking and eating. It is rather a call to lay aside filthiness in order to forge a close bond with God.
Hence, those who want to be like Christ must LAY ASIDE EVERY WEIGHT OF SIN. It is fruitless to serve God while juggling worldliness with efforts to conform to God's image. Also, anyone who embraces the weight of sin may enjoy all it offers but would self-obstruct himself from attaining to God's gift of righteousness, which is by faith in Christ Jesus.
Becoming like Christ in holiness is LIVING UP TO GOD'S EXPECTATIONS AS HIS TRUE REPRESENTATIVE. Inasmuch as holiness is understood as a divine call, your life shouldn't be out of tune with the personality, passion and pursuit of Christ. The personality of Christ characterizes His divine attribute of holiness. His passion epitomizes His zeal for God, which many have substituted for materialism and ungodly pleasure. While His ultimate pursuit is to redeem the lost in order to harvest them off the earth at His coming
Finally, to become like Christ in holiness would be unattainable without LOOKING UNTO JESUS. When you look unto Jesus, you would certainly become the spitting image of Him. That means feasting your eyes on His word and following His teachings will spawn a supernatural change in your outlook and attitude until you conform to His image in holiness and righteousness. But those who close their eyes to God's way while neglecting the straight and narrow way, will make themselves enemies of God and cannot be identified as true Christians. As you settle on turning a 360 degree from worldliness to living the life of Christ, may your garment never be defiled till you see Christ in glory in Jesus name.
