“I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His own life for the sheep.” – John 10:11
God is not delighted in seeing that you are destitute but that you are overwhelmed by the multitude of His blessings. He treasures the prosperity of your body, soul and spirit. This explains why the Psalmist says that, “…I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread.”
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who stays awake day and night to watch over His sheep. In demonstrating His goodness, Jesus makes adequate provision for the need of His people. He goes further to provide them with accommodation, even mansions in heaven. He ensures that His church is united and that there is no division whatsoever among His sheep.
Being the Good Shepherd, Jesus also assured His sheep of sound relaxation; bringing them besides the still waters when troubled waters get others overwhelmed. When His sheep experience sudden losses, He assures them of absolute restoration of lost years, harvest and blessings. In demonstrating the spirit of leadership, Jesus provides direction for His sheep and strengthens their confidence when they go through the valley of the shadow of death.
The chief and underlying illustration of the goodness of Jesus is display in His crucifixion. As the Good Shepherd, He laid down His life not only for His sheep but also for those that will become His sheep. The goodness of Jesus is not contestable. He is good to you. Have you responded to His goodness with a heart of gratitude? I pray the goodness of God will never cease in your life in Jesus name.
