“Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life” - Prov. 4:23
The heart of a child of God is the divine repository of the treasure and wisdom of God. It is the divine spring which houses divine inspiration, blessing, godly expectations, intentions and desires. The heart could also be the repository of the wicked imaginations and intentions that flows from an unclean vessel. Naturally, the heart of man is evil and desperately wicked. But the redemptive work of Christ illuminates the heart of man with divine truth, revelation, promises and power to do exploit for God.
The Bible says that, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Matt 12:34). Therefore, it goes without saying that the information that sinks into your heart can either make or break you. For you to emerge productive and resourceful, you need to enrich your heart with edifying and inspiring information. You need to filter the information you feast your eyes on. Not all information, instructions or counsel you receive must be allowed to settle down in your heart. You need to jettison information that are ungodly, depraving, debauching or counter-productive to the achievement of the purpose of God for your life. Know that what settles in your heart determines what springs out of your mouth.
The Bible is a mine of information on the promises, purpose and plan of God for mankind. It is the Chief Edifier and inspiration which God has given for the salvation, direction and fulfilment of the divine destination of man. Any book or information that corrupts your mind or gives you the impulse to pursuit lustful passion will endanger your heart and obstruct your faulty of sight in pursuing the glorious cause of God for your life.
Before you allow what you hear, read or see to settle in your heart, ask yourself, “Will this information awake my strength and propel me to pursuit good success, follow the pathway of holiness and align myself with the plan of God for my life?” I pray: May you not be a victim of avoidable mistakes, as you diligently guard your heart from all worldliness and viral attacks of the enemy in Jesus name.
