THE EXCELLENT TEAM PLAYER

So we rebuilt the wall and all was joined together to half its height, for the people had a heart and mind to work – Neh. 4:6

It is irrefutable that a chain is no stronger than its weakest link. This implies that you cannot afford to be the weakest link that will undermine the concerted effort of your team. If your impact will be beneficial to your team, you must have the mind to work and to work smart. Smart team players don’t loaf away their time doing unproductive task. They are purpose and passion-driven. They are usually in rare form to take advantage of opportunities that give them the sporting chance to display their competences and capacities.

An excellent team player does nothing by halves. He rather prefers to get to the end of the road and ensure that the desired bottom line is achieved. He is mindful of his mandate and mission in life. Therefore, he relentlessly pursues his purpose without losing sight of what constitutes his major goals. He doesn’t display a wait-and-see attitude but rather comes to the task with what-ever-it-takes attitude with an eye to achieve the desired result.

Uriah was a passionate team player in David’s army who refused to give in to the deceptive scheme of King David. He chose to remain on the battlefield when he was deceptively asked to retire to his house. He had what-ever-it-takes attitude to prosecute the war against the army of the Lord. He remained unmovable and failed to compromise his loyalty to the good fight for which he was commissioned. He wasn’t afraid of occupying the frontline on the battlefield where the battle was hottest. Are you an excellent team player like Urriah with the foresaid excellent traits and virtue? If not, you can if you will train your sights to make a difference with God’s endowment of His excellent spirit upon your life. May your destiny not take the back beat when others are getting on the cutting edge of excellence in Jesus name.
