THE FORERUNNER OF A FALL

Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall – Prov. 16:18

Anyone who allows pride to come in the way of his walk with God cannot be endorsed as a true friend of God. God does not associate with proud people but with anyone who is meek and lowly. The spirit of pride in the life of a man does not allow him to ascribe the glory of his accomplishment to God. A man’s pride may make him to consider God as a dormant player in his overall achievement in life. A proud fellow does not keep a mental note of the active role and backing of God in his success. Hence, he does not give God the credit due to His name.

Pride is the forerunner a fall. Before a man’s destiny falls apart and crumbles, it could be that God had withheld His hands from such life. Your life cannot function effectively without God lifting a finger to help you accomplish your heart desires. Anyone who thinks that his greatness in life could only be predicated on his efforts may be visually impaired to see God as the longest link in the chain of his accomplishment.

King Nebuchadnezzar allowed pride to come in the way of his accomplishment. He didn’t deem it fit to pour down praises and gratitude on God for the stability and great feat of his kingdom. All he probably wanted was to put the spotlight on himself while he assumes that he had single-handedly attained his royal status. Because he failed to pay God the debt of gratitude he owed to Him, the Lord God cut him down to size and reduced him to a status of an animal.

Consequently, he lost his seat of power, his popularity and his grip over his prosperous status. Instead of living in the lap of luxury, the king found himself in the forest to keep company with animals. Hence, I pray that the Lord God give you a humble heart that will make Him to empower you with more grace for greater accomplishment and not resist you on account of display of pride in His sight in Jesus name.
