Examine
yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not
realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test? II
Cor. 13:5
People
who keep their eye on the ball in spite of mundane distractions draw closer to
success than those who act otherwise. Before it is late in the day, you may
want to consider a daily or timely check-up of your progress. Critical
questions to ask are: Am I heading towards the finish line? Am I gaining
momentum? If you can’t answer in the affirmative, you may have to reassess the
situation to see which way the wind is blowing. It could be that you have allowed
wiggle room for time wasting activities that get you nowhere. Also, living on
the assumption that somewhere is better than nowhere may keep you in the middle
of the road without anything extraordinary to show forth and will eventually
make you to lose sight of the big picture.
Evidently,
if you are not on track with your goals, it’s either you are off the track or
not gaining enough momentum to push ahead with your goals. If you allow
anything to put you off the track, you will be nowhere near where you ought to
be; because you have allowed something to come in the way of your advancement.
If you lack the momentum to stay on top of your goals and apply yourself
effectively, you may soon be on the sidelines. And while others are earning
their spurs, reaping the harvest of their painstaking efforts, you would have
allowed good opportunities to slip through your fingers.
So
if you are off the track, examine what went haywire and begin to retool to live
up to your dreams and goals. Examining yourself would come in handy if you will
be sincere with yourself. If you turn the other way without nipping the embargoes
that are slowing you down in the bud, you may have to achieve success the hard
way. It is understandable that realigning yourself with your goals will not only
put you in the spotlight but will also put smiles on your face, making you to brim
with joy of fulfilment when you hit the mark. May you be endowed with the grace
to apply yourself to your dreams and not end up as a broken reed to yourself in
Jesus name
